Tune in Tuesday - My Favorite Place

So I do not usually tune in to HGTV just to see what is on. I usually have a show I am dying to watch - Secrets From a Stylist - or I DVR shows to watch as I lull myself to sleep - House Hunters International.

Well, when we leave our casa, we leave the TV on for Miss Dorothy Mantooth so she is not lonely. Not to mention, she is a TV junkie. (Like her mother, like daughter.) She has 2 options: Disney or HGTV. She gets only these because they are the 2 channels that nothing scary will ever pop up on.

Anyways, as I left the house the other day, I turned on HGTV for Dorth and a show was starting that I had not heard of...My Favorite Place. I hit record and went out the door. When I came home I started it up to see if it was anything I would be interested in. HELLO NEW FRIEND! I scored.

Basically, the show showcases 3 designers or celebrities showing you around their "favorite place" which is either their home or a clients.

This past episode was Lela Rose, Nick Olsen, and Moby.

M is for Mushroom Wood

The other day I was watching the newest episode of Dear Genevieve on HGTV and could not believe my eyes when they pulled out the mot beautiful wood I had ever seen.

The reason the wood is beautiful is sort of disgusting though. The mushrooms live in it and eat it and gnaw away at it, but once it is cleaned up it is gorgeous.

The more amazing part was the cabinet that Genevieve's BEYOND skilled craftsman built out of it.

I searched high and low for a picture but could not find one on the internet or HGTV website anywhere. The episode did not even appear to be up so I could not do a screen shot for you.

Hopefully someone will see this and help me in my plight, because that cabinet was beyond words.

Show Them How Its Done

So all us lovely bloggers thought Nate Day would be a success, but it sounds like it was a huge let down. (Poor Nicole over at Sketch42 went and said it was beyond awful and she only walked a few blocks.) Granted his show has been somewhat the same. Stick to what you know Nate, and do an interior design show, not a daytime talk show. That is why we are watching.

I was torturing myself about why hadn't I gotten up and just put down my stash of cash and flown across the country to go be a part of this. It now looks like the only thing I missed out on was meeting all of the other wonderful bloggers out there.

I am thinking maybe HGTV could rectify this situation?

They seem to be interested in turning their attention towards the future and are aware that bloggers are a huge part of that.

So, if you are listening, its your move HGTV.

Design on a Dime

I know that we all can get sucked into HGTV design shows.  However, most of the time all I think about is that the budget is not really the budget due to the FREE labor.  You can do a lot for $1000 when you have a skilled craftsman working the power saw for you for free!  So you can imagine my shock when I saw this article that was linked from I SUWANNEE to the LA Times featuring Kristan Cunningham of HGTV's Design on a Dime.  She is currently living in a rental and needed to fix it up to her taste without investing a lot in it.  Something that we can all relate to. I was shocked to see the gorgeous creation that she calls home and the TINY budget that was used.  Read more here.

I have a smaller version of this West Elm rug in my kitchen and I just love it.

The lamp on the Master Bath counter felt so lavish to me!  I cannot believe I had not thought of it before!
